Self-Taught Seamstress
Self-taught Seamstress is an article of clothing made from recycled sewing patterns and staples. It comments on societal rigidity and how micro-trends dilute the interest, subtleties, and experimentation of fashion. Taking a once simple, yet functional top and transforming it by populating it with butchered patterns reveals a special inversion.
It now exists as a free and whimsical form; emphasized by the pre-existing garment it rests upon. This is clothing as art, highlighting a timelessness that isn’t centered around longevity– rather, resourcefulness.
Closed Loop A Circular Brand, Handmade by Sam
Closed Loop is a garment line that I designed, created, and branded that reimagines the current fashion industry. The handmade collection employs a circular fashion model with the use of exclusively second-hand, up-cycled fabric. I debuted this work by way of a handmade zine + additional deliverables.
